The support MCCOY received in 2007 translated into a great year. We worked hard to fulfill our mission to serve central Indiana as the catalyst for the positive development of youth, and our efforts yielded some worthwhile results.
Thanks to generous support, here are some highlights from last year:
- Shared the message of The Whole Truth campaign, MCCOY’s first youth advocacy effort, with central Indiana by partnering with over 100 community organizations, a handful of sponsors, and local media for a full-on public awareness effort with educational collateral, radio and television PSAs, newspaper and web advertisements, e-newsletters, and even t-shirts.
- Brought together over 130 community leaders from various sectors for our first “Reach Latino Youth! Conference”, where the state of local Latino youth services was assessed and new approaches and directions for central Indiana’s Latino youth were explored.
- Convened “Youth Connections: Connecting Youth with Future Employers,” a collaboration among Goodwill Youth Services, Ivy Tech Community College, and MCCOY, which brought together employers and educators to introduce high school youth to the diverse education and career paths in the life sciences.
- Awarded $20,000 in educational scholarships through Summer Youth Program Fund, a partnership of local funders that support over 250 youth programs providing summer learning and recreational opportunities to a large number of our community’s children and youth seeking positive and safe activities during the summer months.
- Hosted 2nd annual “Back to School Rally” in partnership with INCASA and City of Indianapolis, where over 25 youth-serving organizations provided approximately 1,500 people both school supplies and positive messages about alternatives to violence.
- Celebrated 10 years of reaching more than 110,000 youth and adults in central Indiana annually with our Youth Activity Directory, a comprehensive resource that highlights youth development opportunities for young people and families provided by youth-serving organizations throughout Marion County.
These accomplishments are only the tip of the iceberg thanks to donors like you who support us and make our work possible.
