The Alliance of Youth Mentoring Agencies of Central Indiana seeks to encourage mentoring programs to work with one another to share best practices and work in concert to recruit, train, retain, and sustain mentors for Central Indiana's young people. Along with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana, MCCOY is a convener of the Alliance.
Joining together with one voice will allow us to make the most of limited resources and to bring about better service, greater collaboration, more effective utilization of resources, and ultimately serve more youth with quality mentoring relationships. Over time, our efforts will focus on the following joint efforts:
- Raising public awareness about the value of mentoring
- Recruiting and referring mentors
- Developing new mentoring resources
- Advocating and promoting public policies and legislation that strengthen mentoring
- Providing affordable, accessible training and technical assistance to staff and mentoring
- Collecting and tracking data related to mentors and the youth served by mentors
The Alliance is a working organization focused on action and results. At quarterly meetings, working groups will craft action strategies that all members will be involved in carrying out in order to further the long range goals of the Alliance.
