Local students participated in Hot 96.3's DJ for A Day Contest!
From January 2nd until April 13th, 2012, MCCOY hosted the Own Your Future Media Arts Contest, in which middle and high school students submitted their writing, artwork, and videos about why academic success is important to them and how they intend to “own their future”. A panel of first round judges scored student entries from April 16th through April 20th and final round judges evaluated the finalist entries on Friday, April 27th. Winners were announced LIVE at the Own Your Future Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 5th! Students won prizes and will have their entries featured throughout our community to raise awareness about the importance of scholastic achievement and youth empowerment.

1st place, 2nd place, AND 3rd place winners in each of the divisions will get to attend the VIP Experience! The students who win the VIP Experience will be interns with RadioNOW 100.9 and HOT 96.3 for a day, as well as be invited to the taping session in IMC-TV and get a behind the scenes learning experience on the set.
Additional Awards 1st place winners for each of the 6 divisions- $300 Education Award and Banner for your school or youth organization 2nd place winners for each of the 6 divisions- $100 Education Award 3rd place winners for each of the 6 divisions- $50 Education Award
Student writing pieces, artwork, and videos will be featured at community locations, including Big Car Service Center and the Indianapolis Arts Garden.

MCCOY interviewed Damon Wharton, a sophomore at Providence Cristo Rey High School who submitted an excellent contest entry, which ended up earning the 3rd Place prize for the High School Video Category.
